Best Swimming Pools at Walt Disney World® Resort

How many times have I heard, “I want to stay at a hotel with a great pool”. At Walt Disney World® Resort that is a pretty easy request to fill. Here are some of the best Disney has to offer in the way of aquatic enticements:

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Who doesn’t love Stormalong Bay? At the most divine pool at Disney are three acres of winding, watery delight offering sandy-bottom pools, a 230-foot-long “shipwreck” waterslide, a snorkeling lagoon, tidal whirlpool, bubbling hot tubs, a kiddie pool with its own slide next to the beach, plenty of sand for castle building, and enough length to float lazily in inner tubes to your heart’s content.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Florida natural springs–style Beach Pool with its cooling waterfall, sunbathing deck, waterslide, and pool bar is the ticket here, although there’s a second freeform, zero-entry Courtyard Pool that’s certainly not a bad choice either. Kids will love the Alice in Wonderland-themed water play area located on the beach with a Mad Hatter’s water dump, oversized teapot water spill, sprinklers, waterspouts, and two mini waterslides.
At the Beach Pool rent a luxurious cabana stocked with a TV, DVD/CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, wireless Internet, beverage-stocked refrigerator, ceiling fan, lounge furniture, and a fruit basket for half- or full-day full day rates; for an extra touch of luxury, private in-cabana massages are available.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. At this recreation of an early 1900s national park lodge, the boulder-strewn, freeform Silver Creek Springs Pool features waterfalls, rocky overlooks, waterslide, kiddie pool, and two whirlpools. Best of all, it actually has its own erupting geyser! How’s that for authenticity?

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Uzima Pool, the lodge’s 11,000 square-foot version of a watering hole is surrounded by towering bamboo and palm trees and highlighted by a 67-foot waterslide. It’s as if you are in a swimming hole out in the savanna only minus the crocodiles!

Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort. The newest 5-star resort in Orlando is one popular place because of five-acre Explorer Island, offering a variety of water areas to choose from: The Oasis is the classic, adult-only pool overlooking the lake with relaxing underwater audio, private cabanas, and a Jacuzzi; Explorer Pool, also overlooking the lake, has a gradual sloping entry perfect for the little ones; Splash Zone where children love playing among the tall, ruined columns of The Mansion with choreographed, interactive fountains that blast as high as 30 feet into the air, water curtains, and fog nozzles; and Drifters, the resort’s 11,008-square-foot lazy river outfitted with spray cannons, a waterfall, and a bubble rapids area.
