Splish Splash In Our Favorite Disney Pools!

It is snow day number 5 here in Loudoun County which has us thinking about what we would rather be doing . . . swimming in a Disney pool!

Disney pools are way more than your average pool, complete with unique theming, fantastic water features, and at one pool, even Nemo’s voice to entertain you “under the sea.” They are a theme park experience in itself. Since partaking in an adult beverage is one of my most favorite Disney pastimes, all of these options include the best poolside concoctions to sip while watching your little ones paddle away!

I recommend all my clients take at least one day to enjoy their resort pool. Some of my earliest memories of Walt Disney World® Resort consist of splashing around in my big princess floaties! My children often ask, “when can we go back and swim in the pool?”

Here is a run down—approved by my three mini Disney divas—of the best pools on Walt Disney World Resort property!

#3- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
The Big Blue Pool is the largest hotel pool at Walt Disney World Resort at 11,859 feet, filled with 310,000 gallons of water. It is a truly immersive experience that includes listening to your favorite Disney songs while swimming “under the sea”! This zero-entry pool is kid heaven where they can splash and play as they relive the story of their favorite clownfish. For the tiniest of swimmers, there is an adorable Schoolyard Sprayground, which includes pop-up jets, gushing water, and more! Convenient for the parents is the Drop Off pool bar located nearby where you can order a Poolside Plunge or a Captain’s Man Tai. Along with the resort’s popular family suites, this fantastic pool makes it one of my most popular choices for families and multi-gen families traveling together.

#2- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
The Lava Pool was refurbished in 2015 to include a popular volcano and water slide as well as an expanded pool deck with more seating. A fantastic Kiki Tikis Splash play area for the younger guests offers two slides, wading pools, and waterfalls. At the Barefoot Pool Bar, grab a Lapu Lapu tropical drink complete with its pineapple cup, and then sit back and relax in an island paradise atmosphere.

#1- Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Four Seasons Resort Orlando
Tied for #1 are two amazing resorts and my family’s vote as the best pools on property: Four Seasons Resort Orlando and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. The difference between the two resorts depends on which type of vacation experience you are wanting for your family.

Stormalong Bay is a 3-acre aquatic wonderland situated between Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Home to its shipwreck replica and a 230-ft-long waterslide, it also includes a lazy river and sandy beach for your littles to build their version of Cinderella’s Castle. Parents can grab a lounge chair and sunbathe while sipping on either a Storm Chaser or Sunshine Margarita from Hurricane’s Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill.

At the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, the Family Pool offers a beach entry, making it very easy for young swimmers to navigate the waters; however, the Explorer Island area is where Four Seasons gets the top vote from my mini Disney divas. Packed with family-friendly fun, it includes a Splash Zone, Lazy River, and The Drop. If competition is your family’s game, then there is beach volleyball, hoops, outdoor tennis, and pool tables. And our favorite poolside bar and grill is located here, PB&G, which offers not only the most delicious cocktails but some of the best food we’ve had on property. So make sure you “Swizzle In and Stagger Out” of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando.
